The "Peace by Chocolate" film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.
From Variety:

"Uplifting refugee drama “Peace by Chocolate,” which marks the last film starring late great Syrian actor and director Hatem Ali, is set to world premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.

UTA Independent Film Group will be handling world sales on the English-language pic, which is directed by Canadian first-timer Jonathan Keijser and will bow as part of the fest’s online Tribeca at Home presentations announced today.

“Peace by Chocolate” is based on the true story of Tareq Hadhad who fled from war-torn Syria with his family and founded a now booming chocolate business in Canada called Peace by Chocolate."

To our valued Peace by Chocolate supporters,

Another year has come and we face many of the same challenges as we did in 2020. We still endeavor to help those at home add a bit of sweetness and normalcy to days of self-isolation and quarantine.
With the current restrictions in place in Nova Scotia, we wanted to mention that our factory still remains open and we are happy to be able to continue spreading peace during these troubled times. Our online store remains open and we will continue to send out and ship chocolate anywhere in Canada, the US and the world.

We will also update in the coming days if we are able to offer curbside pickup at our retail locations moving forward.

Our classic Mood Boosters are still available to bring some joy right to someone’s doorstep. It and all our items are currently 10% off so everyone can get a boost leading up to Mother’s Day with the discount code MOTHERSWEEK2021 (all caps).

There's nothing more honouring than telling our story and the story of our town's of Antigonish, and documenting it to generations to come for decades and decades. Life is about how much of a footprint we can leave on earth before we leave.

Our Halifax Boutique On National News

Our Halifax Boutique On National News

We are so honoured to have been featured on Global News National Broadcast!
Our new signature chocolate Boutique located at 1741 Lower Water Street, Halifax has been attracting hundreds of customers since its opening on Friday March 5th!

"Nova Scotia businessman Tareq Hadhad says he’s confident of an economic turnaround in Canada by the end of 2020.

Hadhad, who fled war-torn Syria with his family in 2015, has opened a new shop for his internationally successful brand, Peace By Chocolate. During Friday’s store opening, a mask hid his smile. But, Hadhad’s eyes still sparkled.

“We wanted to translate our culture and our heritage into something so beautiful. So when you look in the arch, the turquoise, that translates into the colour in our ancient houses in Damascus,” Hadhad said.

The chocolates come from a factory in the town of Antigonish, N.S., where the Hadhads settled after coming to Canada. Soon after he was sworn in as a Canadian citizen last year, the pandemic hit. Hadhad says it’s been stressful for his family. But, he says they have a different perspective than many Canadians. He says a bomb destroyed their original chocolate factory, in Damascus, in 2012.

Peace by Chocolate Open Boutique at Queen’s Marque in Halifax on March 5, 2021

Address :

Queen's Marque

1741 Lower Water Street

Halifax, NS suite 166

Halifax, Nova Scotia - February 2021 - Chocolate makes happiness! Peace by Chocolate started as the result of people and passions coming together to advocate for a cause. The company is expanding that passion to open its first of its kind chocolate boutique at The Queen's Marque in the heart of Halifax’s waterfront.

“This province welcomed our family with open arms in 2016, and we are honoured to continue our mission. Antigonish will remain home to the factory of Peace by Chocolate and our first chocolate shop.” explains Tareq Hadhad, Founder and CEO of Peace by Chocolate. “At the beginning of this pandemic, when everybody was thinking, ‘this is the end of the world,’ we were thinking, ‘this is the start of a new phase’. The pandemic has had negative impacts on so many businesses but we learned new techniques during this crisis about creating our best mindset to face it. It’s time to turn these challenging times into ways to grow.”

The new chocolate boutique is set to open its doors at Queen’s Marque in Halifax to continue the family’s journey of spreading the message of peace. The store reflects the Syrian heritage of the Hadhad family. In addition to their traditional products, Peace by Chocolate has created a new line of artisan chocolate, handmade in Antigonish. The chocolate boutique adds 40 new chocolate flavours, decadent hot chocolate, coffee and handmade fine pastry. The shop is currently developing products and partnerships with local businesses across Nova Scotia.

“Queen’s Marque is the story of a modern Nova Scotia and what is possible here, and there is no better representation of that story than Peace by Chocolate,” says Scott Armour McCrea, CEO of The Armour Group. “We are delighted to welcome Tareq Hadhad and Peace by Chocolate as one of the first retail tenants to open at Queen’s Marque.”

“We will always be thankful for the incredible community support of Nova Scotians, after all, ‘one Peace won’t hurt’.'' explains Hadhad.
