At Peace by Chocolate, we handcraft our treats in rural Antigonish, Nova Scotia. To ensure your order arrives in pristine condition while maintaining affordable shipping rates, please review our official terms and conditions below.

1. Processing & Dispatch

Fulfillment Time
Most orders are processed and shipped within 24–48 hours of purchase.

Order Queue
During high-volume periods (holidays or site-wide sales), orders are fulfilled in the order they are received.

Tracking
Once we print the shipping label for your package, you will receive an email with your tracking number at the email address provided at checkout.

Transit times begin once the courier collects the package from our facility.

3. Summer & Warm Weather Policy

To ensure your chocolate arrives in perfect condition, we implement specialized shipping procedures when temperatures rise. These policies are in effect from April 15th through October 14th, or whenever temperatures exceed 22°C (72°F).

Chilled Container Details

• When active, a $12.00 surcharge is applied for specialized insulated packaging and frozen gel packs.

• Mandatory Period (July 1 – Sept 14): The surcharge is automatically added to all orders to prevent heat damage during peak summer.

• Optional Periods (Apr 1 – June 30 & Sept 15 – Oct 14): You may choose to add or decline the chilled container at checkout based on your local weather and region.

[IMPORTANT] Melt Disclaimer
If you choose to opt-out of the chilled container during an optional period, we are not responsible for any melting claims. By declining the protection, the customer assumes all risk for heat-related damage.

Shipping Logistics & Requirements

Transit Protection
To prevent packages from sitting in non-climate-controlled warehouses over the weekend, we ship Monday through Wednesday only.

Order Cut-off
Orders placed after 12:00 PM on Wednesday will be held in our temperature-controlled facility and shipped the following Monday.

Physical Address Required
IMPORTANT: We do not offer FREE SHIPPING to PO boxes during warm weather. Metal receptacles can reach extreme temperatures that cause immediate melting, so the only option on checkout for PO Box addresses is Express Shipping and Express Shipping + Chilled Container. Please provide a home or business address where someone is available to accept the delivery immediately.

Tips for Melted Chocolate

While we take every precaution, extreme heat can sometimes affect the texture of chocolate. Melted chocolate is still safe to consume. If your chocolate arrives soft, simply place it in the refrigerator to reset the temper.

4. U.S. & International Orders

U.S. Shipments
Due to evolving regulatory and customs requirements, delivery typically takes 2-3 weeks. We are not responsible for delays occurring at the border.

International Shipping
Flat-rate shipping is unavailable for destinations outside North America. Rates are calculated in real-time at checkout based on weight and location.

Tariffs & Duties
International customers (excluding U.S. and Canada) are solely responsible for all local taxes or duties incurred at the border.

5. Returns, Replacements & Claims

We do not offer refunds or replacements for the following:

• Weather Damage: Melting caused by ambient temperatures

• Carrier Delays: Shipping fees are non-refundable in the event of courier or customs delays

• Address Errors: Incorrect addresses, missing unit/apartment numbers, or unavailable receivers

• Returned to Sender (RTS): Original shipping fees are forfeited; reshipping requires a new shipping payment

Valid Damage Claims

If your package is physically crushed or damaged due to a packaging error, please contact support@peacebychocolate.ca within 24 hours of delivery.

You must provide:

• Order Number

• Photos of the damaged product

• Photos of the external shipping box

• A photo of the packing slip

Claims submitted without these four pieces of evidence or outside the 24-hour window will be denied.

6. Shipping Rates

• Standard Canada: $10.00 CAD

• Express Saver Canada: $22.00 CAD

• Free Shipping: Automatically applied to orders of $99.00 or more

• Standard US: $15.00 CAD

• Free Shipping: Automatically applied to orders of $125.00 CAD or more

NOTE: Chilled shipping is optional at checkout during summer and warm weather. Orders shipped without chilled protection are sent at the customer’s discretion, and any melting or heat-related damage during transit is at the customer’s own risk.
