Standing with Newfoundland & Labrador: Support Evacuees Today

The encroaching wildfires on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland have resulted in the evacuation of numerous communities impacted by the Kingston, Martin Lake, and Paddy’s Pond wildfire.

Thousands of hectares of forest and more than 100 homes have already been lost across the province in just a few short days. Behind these numbers are families, elders, children, and communities who now face unimaginable fear and loss.

As a family who once lost everything to war and displacement—and as Nova Scotians who watched our forests and neighbourhoods burn just two years ago—we know the pain of seeing your home and your safety disappear in an instant. That pain never truly goes away.

We also know that when disaster strikes, Canadians show up for one another.
